How to choose the best Flat screen TV
Choosing the right technology
Plasma and LCD TVs look the same, but they are not. Some features or options don't differ a lot, but these are the major differences:
Size
If you arfe looking for an extra large TV, go for a plasma. Plasma TVs are the current size champions, particularly when comparing TVs that consumers can easily purchase. LCDs are catching up in size with their developing technology, however, and may surpass Plasmas in the near future. This may be due to difficulties in producing glass large enough for larger plasmas.
Burn-ins
With the latest plasma technology, this is less of an issue than ever before. The Pixel Orbitor, for example, is a method of reducing burn-in used by plasma manufacturers. It requires no additional programing from the end user as some older burn-in prevention techniques did.
Note: If you plan to use a plasma for gaming, some games with permanent 'dashboards' may still cause some burn-in. If you will be using the television for display use only, go for an LCD. Plasmas are more likely to get burned-in pixels.
Miscellaneous
- LCD TVs are far less fragile than plasmas. This is also an advantage when the tv set has to be shipped or moved to a different location.
- LCD TVs are also much easier to install than plasma TVs.
- LCD TVs have a better performance at high altitudes.
- LCD TVs are often cheaper than plasma TVs. The difference in pricing is getting smaller, however.
Ofcourse, all this information is available all over the web. For a detailed comparison sheet, I recommend using Wikipedia's comparison sheet.

Are There Any Downsides to 3D TV?
3D is set to explode onto the technology market, netting billions of dollars for manufacturers. With their incredible technology, and needless to say, their very clever advertising, many technology companies are cashing in on the 3D technology explosion in popularity. If you are considering setting up a 3D TV in your home, then there are a few things that you are going to need to consider.
The first thing that you are going to need to do is weigh out the positives and the negatives that come with having 3D TV, and there are certainly some glitches that are worth keeping in mind.
Let's first take a look at some of the cons.
PRICE
The first major drawback that comes with purchasing a 3D TV is fairly obvious. Due to the advanced technology, it would be unrealistic to expect to purchase one for a cheap price.
OPTIONS
Yet another drawback that comes with owning a 3D TV is that you have very limited options, unless you purchase some other equipment. For a start, standard television channels very rarely broadcast in 3D format, you would have to purchase a plan from a cable provider that broadcast in 3D format. As well as this, there is the problem with watching DVD's. If you have a standard DVD player then you are not going to be able to watch your DVD's, you are going to have to purchase a Blu-Ray DVD player with 3D capabilities.
LIGHTING
One glitch that you should keep in mind is important, but it does not apply to all 3D TV's on the market. This glitch is the fact that some 3D TV's tend to produce a lot of glare when you are viewing a show or a movie in 3D. This isn't usually a problem, but it can be very distracting when you are trying to watch something, and it can also hurt your eyes and give you a headache. That said, like mentioned above, does not apply to all 3D TV's.
As you can see, there are several 3D TV glitches that do need to be kept in mind if you are considering purchasing a 3D TV set up for your home. It is entirely possible that there are many other glitches that have not been discovered yet, as 3D technology is very much a work in progress. If you are going to go ahead with your purchase, then it would be wise to consider all of your options, and look at some reviews on the internet. There are many different options available to you, and considering the price, it is certainly not a wise idea to jump straight into it.
